I know I'm a bit late to this, but holy shit I fucking love Smiling Friends. I've watched it through like 3 times now, and I'm considering getting HBO Max just to watch it some more. I think it may be a new hyperfixation. It's been the subject of my latest forceful doodling and I can't stop thinking about it, Charlie in particular. Do I really need another character to obsess over? No, but I don't really get a choice in the matter. There's a curve to learning how to draw them, at least for me, but I'm getting the hang of it.
The show itself is fantastic; the characters are very likable, the humor resonates with me perfectly, the plot of each episode is engaging, and the world they've built is very interesting. I really like the fact that critters coexist with humans and that they're equals. The universe is diverse and colorful that way, and the concept of just a business dedicated to making people smile is pretty cute. It feels pointless and trivial, but it works, and I really enjoy the dynamic between Charlie and Pim.
I hate being that guy, but CharPim is pretty nice. Fanfiction pickings are slim, but there are a few quality needles in the otherwise shit haystack. For what it's worth, I don't seek out fan works outside of prowling AO3 before bed. I know it's kinda cringe -- that's partially why I don't upload any of my fanart.
All that aside, if you're on the fence about watching Smiling Friends, I highly recommend it. It's easily the funniest show I've watched in years. I'm glad it got greenlit for another season and I'm eagerly waiting for it. That's about all my dumb brain can say on the matter right now. I may beef this page up later.
